HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The Story of Us

Exhale & Paws began as
a way to feel safe again.
I started incorporating my new puppy into my guided meditations, letting him rest on my chest as I practiced.
Sometimes healing begins with the ones who help your body remember it's safe to exhale.
As he grew, he continued to settle beside me during meditation.
His steady presence gave me the safety and comfort I needed to soften, unwind, and begin to feel at home in my body again.
This is the lived experience behind Exhale & Paws — a story of healing, nervous system safety, and the dog who helped me understand shared calm in a way no certification ever could.
CHAPTER 01 • BEFORE EXHALE & PAWS
I understood the nervous system professionally.
For years, I taught rehabilitative Pilates, integrative yoga, and somatic movement - helping people reconnect with their bodies after pain, stress, anxiety, and trauma. Then life asked me to understand it personally.
CHAPTER 02 • THE TURNING POINT
Life became smaller for a while.
One cloudy morning, while my husband Bernie and I were jogging on vacation, a drunk driver struck him on the sidewalk. It's a miracle we are alive. After that, we couldn't move the way we used to. We couldn't run. We couldn't feel fully safe in the world.
CHAPTER 03. • WELCOME HOME PUPPY
He helped us step by step.
Bachelor taught us how to return slowly- together, one small step and exhale at a time. A year later, I began having recurrent anaphylactic attacks and was diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Bachelor and I trained together under one of the only specialists in the country for MCAS detection, and he became
my medical alert service dog.
CHAPTER 04 • WHAT HE TAUGHT US
A dog's presence can become a doorway back to safety.
When your body is bracing, scanning, or afraid, the steady presence of your dog can remind your nervous system: you are not alone, you are here, you can soften.

The body already knows how to heal.
It just needs to remember it's safe enough to try.
Exhale & Paws is where that knowledge lives - and where Bachelor taught me the rest.
For dog lovers • For nervous systems • For softer days ahead
